Kirk A. Williams

Kirk Williams - PresidentThis is Kirk’s 33rd year in the Transportation and Logistics field, and 8th year at Proficient. Kirk has worked for and managed several of the largest facilities and operations for some of the largest multi-billion dollar transportation and logistics companies in the world. Prior to the purchase of Proficient, Kirk was V.P. Global Freight Management for APL and GATX Logistics. Kirk also served as V.P. Transportation North America for the Global giant Exel Logistics, and was the President and founder of Innovative Logistics, Director Operations Planning for Carolina Freight Corp and Director Marketing for Burlington Northern Railroad.

Kirk earned his BS in Transportation and Logistics Management from Kent State University with continuing education courses at schools such as Kellogg Graduate School of management at Northwestern University, Georgia Tech, The Ohio State University, Stanford University , and the University of Wisconsin. He is an active member of the Auto Carrier Conference of the American Trucking Association, the Florida Trucking Association, and the Jacksonville Transportation Club and a frequent speaker at various industry trade events such as the annual Finished Vehicle Logistics Conferences.

 

Steve Lux

Kirk Williams - PresidentSteve manages the Florida operations of Stonehenge Growth Capital. His current responsibilities include the origination and management of all existing Florida investments and he currently manages nine portfolio companies. Mr. Lux spent 17 years with Bank One, and its predecessor in Dallas before opening Stonehenge Capital’s Tampa office in 1998. He has made growth equity investments in Florida since 1999.
 
Mr. Lux is active in the regional venture investing community. He currently is active in Florida Venture Forum, serving on the executive committee and chairs the Selection Committee for Florida Venture Forum’s annual conference. He was also past chairman. Mr. Lux also serves on the Board of Fellows and College of Business’s Entrepreneurship Program committee at University of Tampa. He has guest lectured at University of Tampa and University of South Florida and served on various panels discussing venture capital related topics across the state. Past board memberships include Tampa Bay Technology Forum and the local chapter of Association of Corporate Growth.

 

Stuart Murff

Kirk Williams - President Stuart is currently Managing Partner of private investment partnership formed in 1997 that has investments in public equities, commercial real estate, residential development and private equity investments in small companies. In that capacity he has been and continues to be on the board of numerous small companies. Prior to that, he was President of Central Bancorporation, a publically held $1.2 billion local banking group with 500 shareholders. 25 branches, 600 employees and 65,000 customers. Prior to that Mr. Murff owned and operated a bank consulting and data processing firm. His firm worked with hundreds of banking and related firms ranging in size from $50 million to $50 billion throughout the United States and Mexico, including Farm Credit Banks and Banamex. Following graduate school he worked in various corporate finance capacities at Mercantile Texas/MCorp a banking group which grew from $800 million to $20 billion during his tenure from 1976 to 1983.

He has a BA in Economics an MBA in Finance and Doctoral studies in Economics from Texas A&M University.

 

Joseph Nicosia

Joseph NicosiaJoe has spent over 40 years in the Logistics/Transportation industry in a number of key executive positions with companies that include: Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., Roadway Express, Inc., McDonnell Douglas Finance Corp., Leaseway Transportation, Inc., CTI a subsidiary of CSX Corp., and GATX Logistics, Inc.

Prior to retiring in 2001, Joe was Chairman of Logistics Holdings, LLC a venture with Oak Hill Capital and Stephens, Inc., and CEO of GATX Logistics, Inc., a global provider of integrated logistics services to many of the world's largest companies.

He served in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps and holds a B.S. Degree in Logistics from Penn State University and graduated from Executive Programs at The University of Southern California and The Wharton School .

Joe has lectured on logistics at a number of colleges and universities including Rollins College, Carnegie Mellon University, Penn State University, Iowa State University and Arizona State University.

His currently serves as a board director for Proficient Auto Transport, Inc., Chemlogix LLC., Travel Research Online LLC., and The Jacksonville Symphony Association.
